Job Overview

The IT Manager has an expert and working knowledge of in-house computer networks with the ability to explain complex systems and the changes made necessary to identify upgrades. He/she has experience with databases, database storage systems and phone systems as well as knowledge of or experience in cloud architecture. The IT Manager leads and manages large IT projects and rolls out IT infrastructures across various technologies. He/she must also manage projects with the proven ability to prioritise, handle risk, control costs, adhere to timelines and manage project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provides support for computer and mobile end-users. Particular emphasis is on supporting computers in a Windows Active Directory domain through the use and management of IT ticket tracking system. Prioritizes all tickets in response to priorities established by Executive Management Team. Offers help in a way that further educates the end-user, elevates overall technology acumen and leads to a less “help desk reliant” workforce.
  • Works with various departments to ensure smooth delivery of technology resources for all on-property events.
  • Researches new technologies, working with the property leadership team and Evolution IT team to recommend, design and implement innovative, cost effective technology solutions.
  • Coordinates 3rd party vendors to include working with various vendors including telecommunications providers, and software, hardware and other technology vendors to respond to IT needs of property as determined by the IT Team and the on-property Leadership Team.
  • Works with the Leadership Team to ensure that IT operations are aligned with business needs. Adjust IT department priorities as necessary in response to direction.
  • Includes: sracking and stacking network and server equipment, toning and terminating cabling, creating new use accounts, joining computers to domains, training, etc.
  • Supervises daily operations of network and server infrastructure
  • Aligns IT infrastructure with current and future business requirements and goals
  • Manages IT budgets, forecast, handling cash flow and enforcing cost-effectiveness
  • Evaluates risk, developing network recovery and backup processes
  • Assesses and purchasing new and replacement hardware
  • Assures that IT activities are within the limits of applicable laws, codes and regulations
  • Tests, troubleshoots and adjusts information systems to operate effectively
  • Implements security of the network, data and its storage and communication systems

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Active Directory and Exchange knowledge including Windows authentication to AD, Windows file and print sharing
  • Printer/peripheral device troubleshooting skills
  • Networking experience with TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP
  • Experience with wireless peripherals/devices especially mobile devices
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to manage technical events from open through closure
  • Critical thinking and problem solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to read, write, and speak English to comprehend and communicate job functions.
  • Excellent people and managerial skills.
  • Good time management and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work with others and help them understand things from a “non-technical” point of view.
  • Ability to meet varying schedules due to nature of the hospitality industry. This may include working extended hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit continuously perform essential functions for an extended period of time.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, technology or related fields
  • AA or equivalent experience
  • A, Network, and Microsoft certifications preferred
  • CCNA
  • 3-5 years progressive experience in the IT industry, working on and supporting end users in a Windows domain environment.
  • 2-3 years of supervision experience.
  • Strong knowledge of technical management and information analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of hardware and software systems.
  • Data centre management and data governance skills.
  • In depth experience with computer network, network administration and installation.
  • Knowledge of the best practices in the hospitality industry.
